So much to tell so forgive me if I leave stuff out or forget things as a lot has happened since my last post........also no photos but will do another post just with my photos of this on the next one.
So I bought a car a 4.0i ford falcon wagon to take me all around Australia and hopefully have some amazing trip. First stop was Elmore to go to a BnS (Bachalor and spinsters party) this is basically a party so farmers can meet a future wife and it didnt dissapoint the women looked like the people from 'The Hills Have Eyes' and the men were no better, chants such as 'get your tits out for the drought' circulated the field but then again it is not the sort of place that a 'tourist' would go so it was fun even though I did peak to early like 21:30 and had to go back to the tent.
Next was The Great Ocean Road which as said on the tin is a great road next to the ocean it was truly beautiful and we took a few days to visit some of the places on the way including the Grampions national park where we got to see 'Bigfoot' country where it looked more like USA with all the tall trees I half expected to see Harry and the Hendersons pop up. There were some amazing views from the look outs and the waterfalls are amazing. The great ocean road also turned into the great ocean hangover as we stopped in a town, well when I say town it had one pub a campsite and a grocery store so we headed to the pub and got some free beers from the locals which we felt the next day, I also got a scratch on my camera lens and being a snob when it comes to cameras will only use that one so I had to get the same which cost 400 bucks and nearly didnt get it in time thanks to the post sending it to Sydney instead of Melbourne but one phone call and it was with me the next day this is like a parcel in scotland being with you 12 hours later. We carried on and hopped on a ferry to Philip Island where I got to see the Blue penguins (fairy penguins but that is not PC carry on reading for explination) come from the sea and make there way to the shore and into their burrows, what I found quite sweet was they all group up in the wash and decide if its safe but if not they all rush back into the sea, unfrotunatly we were not aloud to take pictures as the flash would alarm them but the 10 flood lights the company put on the beach were ok its nothing to do with the fact they want you to buy the pictures, of course I took a few pics but they didnt come out very well.
When you start to drive Oz its only then that you fully realise how big and vast it is, it took 12 hours drive from Melbourne to Sydney and if you look on a map you will see that it is not that far.
Now there is a big debate about which city is best Sydney or Melbourne and I think I have to say Sydney is a better tourist place but I would rather live in Melbourne. I have to take the time to thank my Aunt Brenda for taking to some lovely places that I normally would not have seen it really did make the trip great. I did all the tourist things in Sydders.....The Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Botanical Gardens I also got to do the bridge walk where you walk up the arch of the Harbour bridge normally you go in groups of 14 but I turned up at a lucky time and just had 3 people me and 2 mexicans who were really nice but scared of heights, the tour was amazing and I would reccomend it to anyone although a big water slide at the top to the harbour would have made it heaps better. I opted to stay in the backpackers haunt of Kings Cross instead of my Aunts apartment and to say the least it was eye opening it was basically full of drunks and druggies all shouting or attacking people or sleeping in doorways even our hostel had some memorable characters like 'Nana Bags' the old bag lady in our dorm who busked on the street with her accordian who one night I thought was going to smother me when she came in late and hovered around my bed, there were also some really nice Danish girls who liked to walk around the dorm in their bra and knickers obviously I complained and moaned like all 'pommys' do.......well this was probably the only thing I didnt moan about. Next on the trip was Coffs....
I would like to say that this trip one event 4 months ago has altered my trip this far down the line......basically in Ho Chi Min city I made a split decision to go for a beer on the first night and met a friendly Austalian from Coffs and If I had not gone out that night my opinion of Coffs may be completly different and maybe even missed out completly but thanks to my need to drink I met Caitlin and was given an amazing tour of Coffs does this come down to fate or is life just random this has been bothering me for a while now. As Caitlin works in a 'Seaworld' type of place I got to go free and also stay behind after the public had gone and interact with the seals and dolphins, I got to had kisses and handshakes with some of the most cutest creatures in the world and also got to see how the trainers train them. If I had low blood pressure before Coffs I certainly didnt after going to the big bannana but let me first tell you what the 'big things' are, some towns build these big statues of fruit or animals or anything so that tourists come and see it and I am on a mission to get as many as possible already aquired the big merino, ned kelly and bannana with the bannana being the first one, back to the low blood pressure after my friend tried to get a spider to attack me by touching the web she drove me up the freeway the wrong way, maybe doctors in Coffs should prescribe a ride in Caitlins car for low blood pressure either that or a build it yourself cupboard from Ikea, im exagerating slightly but again it reinforces my opinion that women should not get cheaper car insurance Sheila's wheels should cost more!!! I was also taken to Mutton Bird Island but didnt see any mutton birds which are like fat seaguls, the next day we drove to Dorrigo to see the rain forest and take a lyla bird walk to see if we could see one which we didnt but I would never believe anyone unless I had seen on You TYubewhat they do, they can impersonate any sound.....YES any sound, I saw them do cameras, drills, other birds and songs truley amazing birds kinda like the black guy from Police Acadamy who makes all those noises. Caitlin has also made it into the most exclusive club in the world she has been added to the group of people that I actually miss when you leave them there has only been a few and most of them guys but it is growing and it makes me realise the British are not as friendly as the rest of the world and have made a promise to myself to go that extra way for people.
Have got to Noosa but it has been dubbed Noosance due to the shit people we have seen and the trouble we had trying to get a bed. I am used to travelling on my own and I concur that this is the best way to travel as I dont get told what to do or when to do it and may even do the northan territories on his own to regain this 'freedom' three other people in a car is not the easiest way to travel.
So next on the list well I dont know but I have started to feel a little homesick and crave some normality in my life but I know once I get home I will just want to swap again so I guess its keep pushing on.
